ENVIRONMENT

Local manufacturing and supply - Chrislan Ceramics is 100% Canadian owned and operated. We manufacture each tap handle in our production plant located just outside of one of the greenest cities in the world: Vancouver, Canada. Keeping our production local is very important to us. We have chosen to purchase our clay from California and Washington because these companies are relatively local and very environmentally conscious. Buying local not only reduces our carbon footprint, it also employs men and women our community and surrounding areas in North America.

Recycling - At Chrislan, we are very passionate about reducing the amount of waste we produce and have active recycling programs for almost all of our manufacturing materials. We recycle paper, bottles, cans, glass, plastics, electronics, wood, metal and cardboard. We estimate that over the past 5 years, we have reduced our total amount of waste by over 75%. We are very proud of this accomplishment and are constantly on the look out for new things to recycle.

Energy and water Reduction - Saving energy is always a great idea so when we built our production facility, we had skylights installed in the office and in the warehouse to save on energy on lighting. We also decided to re-use the water in our production line so after a bit of research we decided to purchase a pouring machine that had this capability. We estimate that we use about 50% less water in the production of our green ware tap handles.

Organic Inks - We have recently added a line of organic inks to our production contributing to our overall goal of becoming as environmentally friendly as possible. Although this process is still being perfected, it can now be used on all white handles or branding messages with a white background. This new process not only increases our product offering; it gives us a great organic option!
